173RD FIGHTER WING
The 173rd Fighter Wing is the nation’s premier F-15 fighter pilot schoolhouse, and trains the world’s greatest air superiority pilots. Tasked with training F-15 pilots for service in the Combat Air Force, the 173rd trains both Air Guard and active duty pilots to fly and fight the Eagle as the sole F-15 Formal Training Unit. The 173rd defines the leading edge of innovative training technology and techniques, setting the standard for professional training centers.
With the conversion of the 325th Fighter Wing at Tyndall AFB, FL to strictly F-22 Raptor training, the 173 FW assumed all F-15C/D Formal Training Unit (FTU) responsibilities for the U.S. Air Force, to include Regular Air Force and international/foreign military training in addition to Air National Guard F-15 training.
